Men’s Golf Concludes Regular Season at Thunderbird Invitational

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team will conclude its regular season schedule this weekend by traveling to Arizona for the Thunderbird Invitational. The event, hosted by Arizona State, at the 7,503-yard, par-71 Papago Golf Course in Phoenix will be held Friday and Saturday.

The tournament will consist of two rounds on Friday, followed by the final round on Saturday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.

The Lobos, ranked No. 49 nationally by Golfstat, will compete against an elite field where all 12 teams are in the top 100, including seven in the top 30. New Mexico will be competing against No. 2 North Carolina, No. 3 Texas Tech, host No. 5 Arizona State, No. 13 Texas, No. 19 Arizona, No. 21 Oklahoma State and No. 27 Baylor. Notre Dame, Oregon State, SMU and Utah round out the field.

The Lobos are fielding a lineup of Bastien Amat, Albert Boneta, Brandon Shong, Matthew Watkins and Carson Herron. Virgilio Paz and Connor Adams will play the event as individuals.

UNM has four top-two finishes in 10 events this season, including two victories. The Lobos are coming off a runner-up finish at the Hootie at Bulls Bay in South Carolina in their last outing in late March.
