UNM Adds Charlotte Kohl

by Allison Weiss

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— UNM head women’s basketball coach Mike Bradbury and staff have added Charlotte Kohl, the program announced on Wednesday.

A graduate transfer from Mississippi State, the 6-5 center from Giessen, Germany has two years of eligibility remaining.

“We look forward to Charlie (Charlotte) joining our team,” commented Bradbury. “She gives us added size inside at 6-5 and provides that depth that we were looking for. Her offensive skillset matches the way that we play offense where she can play on the perimeter and also score around the basket.”

At 6-5, Kohl will be the tallest Lobo since Richelle van der Keijl (2016-17), who also stood 6-5.

In her three seasons in Starkville, Kohl played in a total of 55 games with 14 starts.

During the 2021-22 season, she played in all 29 games with 11 starts and averaged 13.7 minutes per game with 94 rebounds and 23 blocks while shooting a team-high .537. Among her season highlights were a career-high 18 rebounds against Arkansas and a career-high three blocks against Texas A&M. In total, she recorded a block in 14 games with seven games with multiple blocks. She recorded her first career double-double against the Razorbacks with career highs of 10 points and 18 rebounds, which were the most rebounds by a Bulldog since November 2019. In addition, she also registered 11 rebounds against LSU to go with eight points. Starting in the final nine games of the season, Kohl averaged a team-best 6.7 rebounds per game to go with 5.0 points per game.

This past season the newest Lobo appeared in 21 games with three starts against Tennessee, Missouri and Alabama.

In addition to SEC experience, Kohl brings international experience after playing on the German National U16 and U18 Teams as well as the 3×3 U18 National Team. In 2016, she also played for the Bender Baskets in the 2nd German Senior League and made the All-Star team at the 2015 FIBA Camp.
