ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The women’s golf team, which turned in a record-setting 2022 GPA of 4.03, won the pretigious Athletic Director’s Cup at the annual Lobo Scholar-Athlete Banquet on Tuesday night. The banquet was hosted at the UNM Student Union Building with student-athletes, professors and staff members on hand.
Along with the women’s golf team earning the top honor of the night, the Lobos honored 10 student-athletes where are graduating with 4.0 GPA, and that includes Kamie Hamada, Lauren Lehigh and Chloe Lauer of women’s golf. Also honored for 4.0 GPAs were Arthur Steinkamp of baseball, Alex Maggs of men’s tennis, Myah Isais, Paris Dalton and Sakura Yoshida of soccer, Camillo Dunninger of men’s track and field, and Abbe Goldstein of women’s track and field.
The awards were some of the many handed out at the department’s largest academic banquet. In addition, 293 student-athletes were named Lobo Scholar-Athletes for having a 3.2 cumulative GPA.
Women’s tennis was honored with the most improved award, and the 2022-23 UNM All-Academic team was announced, comprised of Arthur Steinkamp (baseball), Braden Appelhans (men’s basketball), Max Elkman (football), Albert Boneta (men’s golf), Alex Maggs (men’s tennis), Kat van Bennekom (women’s basketball), Chloe Lauer (women’s golf), Emily Ho (women’s track and field), Mackenzie Fotiades (soccer), Amber Linton (softball), Katy McCarter (swimming and diving), Hsuan Huang (women’s tennis), Lauryn Payne (volleyball), Camillo Dunninger (men’s track and field) and Katelyn Estrada (Spirit Squad).
