ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Set to compete in three different meets over the weekend, the New Mexico track and field team will be in action in Texas and California beginning on Thursday.

Lobo sprinters and field athletes will compete in Austin at the Texas Relays and San Marcos at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational, while the distance crew will be on the West Coast at the Stanford Invitational.

Women’s Heptathlon (Texas State Bobcat Invitational) – 11 a.m.

Victoria Plummer – Lifetime Best: 4,327 (4/9/2022 – Jo Meaker Classic)

After putting together a personal best performance in the pentathlon at the Mountain West Indoor Championships on Feb. 23-25, Plummer looks to keep the momentum going into the outdoor season as she competes in her first multi event of the spring. Plummer debuted in the 200-meters, 100-meter hurdles, and javelin last week at the Texas Tech Masked Rider, and her lifetime best heptathlon score was 4,327 points which she achieved on April 9, 2022 at the Jo Meaker Classic.


Women’s Long Jump (Texas State Bobcat Invitational) – Noon

Mikyla Harkley (Flight 2) – Lifetime Best: 5.89m/19’ 4” (3/25/2023 – Texas Tech Masked Rider)

Fresh off her lifetime best in the long jump, Harkley will seek to improve on her mark of 5.89 meters (19’ 4”) that she achieved last week in Lubbock. Her big mark puts her No. 3 in the Mountain West in the early outdoor season.


Men’s Long Jump (Texas State Bobcat Invitational) – follows women’s long jump

Aidan Quinn (Flight 1) – Lifetime Best: 7.05m/23’ 1.75” (2/25/2022 – MW Championships) Outdoor Best: 6.89m/22’ 7.25” (5/15/2021 – MW Championships)

Notorious for his triple jump ability, Quinn is entered in the long jump on the opening day of the Texas State Bobcat Invitational. He carries a lifetime best jump of 7.05 meters (23’ 1.75”) and an outdoor best of 6.89 meters (22’ 7.25”) into the meet.


Women’s 400-Meter Hurdles (Texas Relays) – 3:30 p.m.

Aleksandra Wolczak (Heat 1) – Lifetime Best: 58.03 (6/9/2022 – Poland)

Annamaria Leszczynska (Heat 3) – Lifetime Best: 58.87 (2/17/2018 – Australia) College Best: 1:01.00a/1:00.89 (3/25/2023 – TTU Masked Rider)

Logan Neely (Heat 5) – Lifetime Best: 1:00.24 (4/22/2022 – Illinois)

Three Lobo newcomers are set to compete in the 400-meter hurdles for the first time, with Aleksandra Wolczak holding the top lifetime mark at 58.03 seconds. Wolczak will make her collegiate outdoor debut, holding a lifetime best mark of 58.03 seconds which she set during her prep career in Poland. Her top 60-meter hurdle time of the indoor season was 8.55 seconds (adjusted from 8.53), which she achieved at the Mountain West Championships. Logan Neely is the lone Lobo with collegiate experience in the event, running a PR time of 1:00.24 minutes on April 22, 2022 during her career at Illinois. Neely was just off her collegiate best in the event last week, running 1:01.96 (1:01.85) at the Masked Rider.

Friday, March 31

Women’s 4×100-Meter Relay (Texas Relays) – 8:35 a.m. (rolling schedule)

Rebecca Grieve, Mckenna Watson, Tianna Holmes, Maria Cisneros Llamazares

This will be the first 4×100-meter relay of the year for the Lobos, with Holmes the only runner on this list with collegiate experience in this event.

Rebecca Grieve and the Lobos will run their first 4×100-meter relay of the year on Friday.

Women’s 100-Meters (Texas Relays) – following 4×100 meters

Mckenna Watson – Lifetime Best: 11.86a/11.83 (3/25/2023 – TTU Masked Rider)

In her first collegiate 100-meters, Mckenna Watson hit her lifetime best in the event by running 11.86 seconds (11.83) last week in Lubbock. The top short-distance sprinter through the indoor season for the Lobos, Watson looks to continue momentum after breaking the school record in the 60-meters at the Mountain West Indoor Championships with a time of 7.54 seconds (7.52).


Women’s 4×400-Meter Relay (Texas Relays) – following 100-meters

Rebecca Grieve, Tianna Holmes, Aleksandra Wolczak, Logan Neely, Annamaria Leszczynska

The Lobos broke the school record in the 4×400-meters two different times during the indoor season, as this pool of five runners looks to keep the momentum going on Friday. The longstanding outdoor school record of 3:41.11 minutes was set on May 20, 2000.

Wolczak competed on three 4×400-meter relay units during the indoor season, helping the team break the school record on Feb. 11 at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. Like Wolczak, Leszczynska was on three different 4×400-meter relay squads during the indoor season, and was part of UNM’s distance medley relay team that won the Mountain West indoor title on Feb. 24.

Aleksandra Wolczak and the Lobos record-breaking 4×400-meter relay team will be in action on Friday.

Men’s 4×400-Meter Relay (Texas Relays) – following women’s 4×400-meters

Brodie Young, Victor Akhalu, Jevon O’Bryant, Jovahn Williamson

Like the women’s 4×400 relay team, the men’s unit also broke the school record during the indoor season with a time of 3:06.58 minutes on Feb. 4. UNM went on to win the Mountain West Indoor title, and the Lobos are the reigning Mountain West outdoor champions in the event. The UNM school record sits at 3:05.00 minutes, set on May 7, 1977.

Men’s Long Jump (Texas Relays) – 9 a.m.

Lokesh Sathyanathan – Lifetime Best: 7.87m/25’ 10” (12/4/2019 – Nepal) College Best: 7.69m/25’ 2.75” (2/24/2023 – MW Championships)

The reigning Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week got his outdoor season started with the top long jump in the conference so far this year, as he hit 7.38 meters (24’ 2.5”) at the Texas Tech Masked Rider. Sathyanathan earned all-conference during the indoor season, hitting a season-best leap of 7.69 meters (25’ 2.75”) at the Mountain West Championships on Feb. 24. His lifetime best mark of 7.87 meters (25’ 10”) was set in 2019 in Nepal.


Men’s Triple Jump (Texas Relays) – 11:30 a.m.

Aidan Quinn – Lifetime Best: 15.73m/51’ 7.25” (12/3/2021 – Air Force) Outdoor Best: 15.58m/51’ 1.5” (5/14/2022 – MW Championships)

The four-time Mountain West champion in the triple jump, Quinn got his outdoor season started with a jump of 14.52 meters (47’ 7.75”) last week at the Masked Rider. His best-ever outdoor triple jump got him the 2022 Mountain West title, as he hit a mark of 15.58 meters (51’ 1.5”) last May. His lifetime best came during the 2021 indoor season, when he hit 15.73 meters (51’ 7.25”) at the Air Force Holiday Open.


Women’s 1,500-Meters (Stanford Invitational) – 1:57 p.m.

Klara Dess (Section 4) – Lifetime Best: 4:21.08 (1/26/2022 – Australia)

In her first outdoor event as a Lobo, Dess will lead off in the early session of the women’s 1,500-meters on Friday. It will be the first time she has competed in the event at the collegiate level, and she holds a lifetime best of 4:21.08 minutes which she set in Australia in 2022. Her top mile time of the indoor season was 4:45.98 minutes, which she also ran at sea level on Feb. 11 in Seattle.


Men’s 400-Meter Hurdles (Texas State Bobcat Invitational) – 3:40 p.m.

Rivaldo Leacock (Section 8) – Lifetime Best: 49.63 (5/25/2022 – NCAA West Preliminary)

Competing in the eighth and final section of the event on Friday, Rivaldo Leacock will run in the hurdles for the first time this year. His lifetime best in the event of 49.63 seconds came at the NCAA Preliminaries last May, and he went on to earn All-American honors with a ninth-place finish in the event at the NCAA Championships with a time of 50.84 seconds.


Women’s 200-Meters (Texas State Bobcat Invitational) – 4:20 p.m.

Mckenna Watson (Section 5) – Lifetime Best: 24.02a/23.95 (1/27/2023 – NM Team Open)

Tianna Holmes (Section 8) – Lifetime Best: 23.12 (5/27/2022 – NCAA West Preliminary)

Holmes broke her own school record in the event during the indoor season, winning the Mountain West title with a time of 23.56 seconds (23.49) on Feb. 25. She broke the outdoor school record in the event last spring with a lifetime best mark of 23.12 seconds, set on May 27 at the NCAA West Preliminaries. She went on to earn All-America recognition, finishing fifth at the national championships last May. Standout freshman Mckenna Watson will also compete in the event, after a season-best indoor time of 24.02 seconds (23.95).


Men’s 200-Meters (Texas State Bobcat Invitational) – 4:40 p.m.

Rivaldo Leacock (Section 4) – Lifetime Best: 21.52a/21.45 (2/24/2023 – MW Championships) Outdoor Best: 21.95a/21.88 (3/25/2023 – TTU Masked Rider)

Leacock ran a total PR of 21.52 seconds (21.45) at the Mountain West Indoor Championships, and is coming off an outdoor PR of 21.95 seconds (21.88) set last week in Lubbock.


Men’s 3,000-Meter Steeplechase (Stanford Invitational) – 6:39 p.m.

Awet Yohannes (Section 1) – Lifetime Best: 8:42.02 (5/14/2022 – MW Championships)

Nehemiah Cionelo (Section 4) – Lifetime Best: 9:11.46 (5/14/2022 – MW Championships)

Last year’s runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Mountain West Championships, Awet Yohannes will make his 2023 track and field debut on Friday night. Yohannes ran a lifetime best mark of 8:42.02 minutes last May to finish in second place. Nehemiah Cionelo also notched his lifetime best – 9:11.46 minutes – at last year’s Mountain West Championships.

Elise Thorner (Section 1) – Lifetime Best: 4:15.10 (4/14/2022 – Bryan Clay Invitational)

Maisie Grice (Section 2) – Lifetime Best: 4:17.99 (7/9/2022 – Great Britain)

Danielle Verster (Section 2) – Lifetime Best: 4:13.78 (4/26/2022 – South Africa)

Sarah Eckel (Section 3) – Lifetime Best: 4:14.11 (2/17/2018 – Australia) Collegiate Best: 4:19.61 (5/25/2022 – NCAA West Preliminary)

Abigail Goldstein (Section 3) – Lifetime Best: 4:14.56a/4:20.22 (2/18/2023 – USATF Championships) Collegiate Best: 4:15.79 (4/2/2022 – Stanford Invitational)

Thorner is set for her first outdoor competition of the season, and enters the event with a lifetime best of 4:15.10 minutes which she set last April in California. That came a month before she won the Mountain West Championships title in the event, running 4:22.88 last May at Fresno State to claim the title. Abigail Goldstein ran her collegiate best at this meet last year, hitting at time of 4:15.79 on April 2, 2022. She is also coming off her lifetime best in the event of 4:14.56 minutes (4:20.22), which she ran at the USATF Championships on Feb. 18 in Albuquerque. Sarah Eckel has the best all-time mark of everyone competing at 4:13.78 which she set in 2018, and it will be the first collegiate outdoor meet as Lobos for Maisie Grice and Danielle Verster.


Men’s 1,500-Meters (Stanford Invitational) – 7:49 p.m.

Matthew Larkin (Section 3) – Lifetime Best: 3:43.66 (4/15/2022 – Bryan Clay Invitational)

Fresh off a Mountain West title in the 800-meters during the indoor season, and a lifetime best in the mile in February, Larkin is set to hit the ground running in his first outdoor meet of the season. He will have his eyes set on his lifetime best of 3:43.66 minutes, which he ran on April 15, 2022 at the Bryan Clay Invitational.


Men’s 5,000-Meters (Stanford Invitational) – 8:52 p.m.

Kevin Mulcaire (Section 2) – Lifetime Best: 14:02.30 (5/16/2015 – Great Britain) Collegiate Best: 14:09.35 (4/14/2022 – Bryan Clay Invitational)

Jonathan Carmin (Section 3) – Lifetime Best: 13:52.94 (12/3/2022 – Colyear Danville Opener)

Jonathan Carmin hit his lifetime best in the 5,000-meters during the indoor season, running a time of 13:52.94 minutes in Boston last December. Carmin most recently claimed the Mountain West title in the event, winning the race on Feb. 24 in Albuquerque. Kevin Mulcaire meanwhile holds a collegiate best of 14:09.35 minutes, which he ran last April at the Bryan Clay Invitational.


Women’s 5,000-Meters (Stanford Invitational) – 9:28 p.m.

Stefanie Parsons (Section 1) – Lifetime Best: 16:18.41 (4/24/2021 – Michigan)

Parsons won the mile at the Mountain West Indoor Championships a month ago, and will compete in her first outdoor meet of the season this weekend. Her best-ever outdoor 5,000-meter mark came during her career at Edinboro, running 16:18.41 on April 24, 2021.


Women’s 10,000-Meters (Stanford Invitational) – 10:05 p.m.

Emma Heckel (Section 1) – Lifetime Best: 33:05.02 (4/2/2022 – Stanford Invitational)

Gracelyn Larkin (Section 1) – Lifetime Best: 33:10.09 (5/14/2022 – MW Championships)

Gracelyn Larkin and Emma Heckel finished second and third at last year’s Mountain West Outdoor Championships, each earning all-conference recognition in the 10,000 meters. Larkin’s time of 33:10.09 minutes was a lifetime best, while Heckel’s PR came at this meet last year when she ran 33:05.02 minutes.

Saturday, April 1

Women’s Triple Jump (Texas State Bobcat Invitational) – 9 a.m.

Mikyla Harkley (Flight 1) – Lifetime Best: 12.57m/41’ 3” (4/30/2022 – Fresno State Invitational)

Harkley established an initial triple jump of 12.16 meters (39’ 10.75”) at last week’s Masked Rider meet, as she looks to build off her indoor season best of 12.19 meters (40’ 0”) she hit at the 2023 Mountain West Indoor Championships.


Men’s Triple Jump (Texas State Bobcat Invitational) – Follows women’s TJ

The outdoor school record holder Holmes headlines a group of five Lobos entered in the event, as she hit her lifetime best of 52.11 seconds last spring at the NCAA West Preliminaries. She won the Mountain West indoor title in the 400-meters, and was the conference runner-up in the event during the 2022 outdoor season. Rebecca Grieve narrowly missed the podium in her first Mountain West Championship, placing fourth in the event with a lifetime best mark of 54.27 seconds (54.16). Aleksandra Wolczak is the only Lobo besides Holmes to have ever broken the 54-second barrier, holding a lifetime best of 53.86 which she ran in 2022 in Slovenia.

New Mexico’s elite sprint unit of five runners is entered in the 400-meters, with Jovahn Williamson’s lifetime best of 45.39 seconds being the top mark among the group. Jevon O’Bryant, who was the Mountain West indoor runner-up in the event, holds a lifetime best of 45.67 seconds which he ran last spring. Reigning Mountain West Athlete of the Week Brodie Young is coming off a lifetime PR of 46.20 seconds (46.09) last week in Lubbock, while Victor Akhalu holds a mark of 46.73 seconds (46.62) and Rivaldo Leacock checks in at 47.08 seconds (46.97).

Mckenna Watson (Section 5) – 11.86a/11.83 (3/25/2023 – Texas Tech Masked Rider)

Maria Cisneros Llamazares (Section 6) – 11.74 (5/14/2022 – Spain)

Watson is coming off her lifetime best in the event of 11.86 seconds (11.83), which she set at the Texas Tech Masked Rider last week. It will be the first collegiate 100-meters for Cisneros Llamazares, whose lifetime best sits at 11.74 seconds.

Women’s 800-Meters (Stanford Invitational) – 3:14 p.m.

Abigail Goldstein (Section 3) – Lifetime Best: 2:07.66 (4/2/2022 – Stanford Invitational)

Maisie Grice (Section 4) – Lifetime Best: 2:07.64 (7/23/2022 – Great Britain)

Klara Dess (Section 5) – Lifetime Best: 2:07.24 (1/28/2022 – Australia)

Four Lobos with comparable lifetime bests are set to compete in the final women’s event of the weekend. Goldstein’s PR of 2:07.66 minutes came at this event last year, while Eckel holds the best PR of the group at 2:05.24 minutes. It will be the first outdoor 800-meters as Lobos for Grice and Dess.


Men’s 800-Meters (Stanford Invitational) – 3:38 p.m.

Matthew Larkin (Section 1) – Lifetime Best: 1:48.20 (5/25/2022 – NCAA West Preliminary)

Larkin won the Mountain West indoor title in this event a month ago, with a time of 1:48.53 minutes (1:49.14) in Albuquerque. That was just off his overall PR of 1:48.20 minutes, which he ran last spring during the outdoor season.
