Lobos Finish 14th at PING/ASU Invitational
PHOENIX, Ariz. – The New Mexico women’s golf team concluded play on Sunday at the PING/ASU Invitational with the final round at the Papago Golf Course. The Lobos shot 6-over during the third round to move up to 14th place at 35-over amongst a field where every team is ranked in the Golfstat top 100.
Northwestern took home the title with a score of 18-under. Host Arizona State was the only other team under par at 4-under. Baylor (3-over), Mississippi State (4-over) and Texas (6-over) rounded out the top five.
Lisa-Marie Pagliano had the best round of the day for the Lobos with an even-par 72. Lauren Lehigh, Maria Caparros Levin and Jenny Lertsadwattana all shot 74 on Sunday, while Myah McDonald rounded out the lineup with a final-round 77.
“This group fights to until the bitter end,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “I’m so proud of the guts that they have. The wind really picked really picked up again on our second nine holes and some of the finishing birdies were pretty incredible. Lisa-Marie played so steady today.”
The Lobos will return to action April 18-20 with the Mountain West Championship in Palm Springs Calif.
