UNM, Project Heart Start to Host Free CPR Training
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Project Heart Start, along with Cumulus Radio, The Albuquerque Journal, KOAT and UNM Athletics will host a free CPR training event at University Stadium on Saturday, April 15. The event will run from 9-12, with three sessions running from 9-10 am, 10-11 am, and 11 am-12 pm.
Knowing and being trained in CPR can be the difference of life and death. This past NFL season, Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin’s life was saved due to CPR which was given on the field during a Monday Night Football game.
Each session, which lasts a little under an hour, is the same. Anyone in the community that is interested in attending can pre-register by clicking here.
Parking for the event is free, and members of the Lobo Football Team will be on hand to help out fans attending the event. Fans that preregister and attend the event will receive two free tickets to the Lobo Football home opener on Saturday, September 9 against Tennessee Tech. Upon completion of the event, fans will be able to show their CPR Card at the Lobo Softball game on Saturday for one free admission. The Lobos host Colorado State at 2 pm at the Lobo Softball Field.
Attendees will enter University Stadium via the southwest tunnel, the same tunnel that visiting teams use for games. From there, registrants will check-in and head to the field for CPR training.
Project Heart Start is dedicated to training all capable individuals in New Mexico in hands-only CPR, how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), the common signs and symptoms of a heart attack, and how to help save the life of a choking victim.
