MESA, Ariz. – The New Mexico women’s golf team completed a strong performance at the Clover Cup during Sunday’s final round at Longbow Golf Club. The Lobos shot 2-under during Sunday’s third round to finish in second place with a season-best 8-under score.

New Mexico finished second in a field that included five top-50 teams. Tenth-ranked Texas A&M shot 23-under to win the championship. The Lobos, ranked No. 50 nationally, were second at 8-under, ahead of No. 31 Georgia in third at 4-under, No. 29 Clemson in fourth at 2-under and No. 46 Tennessee in fifth at 9-over.

The Lobos were led by Lauren Lehigh, who finished T-3rd on the individual leaderboard with a career-best 9-under 207. Her final round bogey-free 67 tied the low round of her collegiate career. Myah McDonald also had a top-10 finish, shooting a final round 70 to finish T-7th at 4-under. Jenny Lertsadwattana finished T-16th at even par after a final round 75. Maria Caparros Levin shot a final round 74, while Chloe Lauer rounded out the lineup with a 79 on Sunday.

“Despite another slow start, this team hung really tough and finished a great tournament for us,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “Lauren’s final round 67 was really awesome and Myah’s seventh place finish was amazing.”

The Lobos will be back in action next week again in Arizona, competing Friday-Sunday at the Mountain View Collegiate in Saddlebrooke, Ariz.
