Lobos Finish T-13th at Southern Highlands Collegiate

LAS VEGAS, Nev. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team concluded play Tuesday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate at Southern Highlands Golf Club. The Lobos shot 1-under during the third round to finish the event tied for 13th place at 9-over in a field that included 11 teams in the Golfstat Top 50.

No. 7 Illinois took home the title at 21-under, followed by No. 14 Pepperdine (18-under), No. 16 Texas (17-under), No. 4 North Carolina (16-under) and No. 9 Oklahoma (15-under)

“Today was a good final round for us,” said head coach Glen Millican. “The first and third rounds this week went well and it was good to see the guys play well today and have some momentum heading into next week.”

Albert Boneta shot the low round of the day for the Lobos, carding a 1-under 71. He tied Bastien Amat for low individual for UNM at the event at even par for the 54 holes. Amat, Carson Herron and Brandon Shong all shot even par on Tuesday, while Virgilio Paz rounded out the lineup with an 82.

The Lobos return to action March 6-7 with the Lamkin San Diego Classic, hosted by San Diego State.
