Lobos Open Home Schedule Thursday Before Traveling South for Troy Cox Classic
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— UNM opens up its home schedule with a doubleheader against Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m. and the second game to follow after.
UNM is 4-1 all-time and 3-1 at home against the Roadrunners with the last meeting back in 2015, an 8-1 win for the Lobos. Following Thursday’s games, UNM heads to Las Cruces for the Troy Cox Classic to face three opponents the Lobos have played in the last two years in No. 4 Oklahoma State, Creighton and New Mexico State and Nebraska, with the Lobos beating the Cornhuskers the last time the teams met back in 2016.
Oklahoma State will be the third ranked team that the Lobos will play thus far, joining LSU and Oregon State, but will be the highest ranked team at No. 4.

UNM’s games against Cal State Bakersfield will be streamed on the Mountain West Network with live stats available, and only the New Mexico State game on Saturday will be streamed on the WAC Network. Live stats will be available for all five games.
CONSISTENCY IS KEY
Freshman Keyannah Chavez has reached base in all eight games this season, has a four-game hitting streak and is tied for the team high in hits with 10, three of which have been doubles. The outfielder is currently second in the MW in batting average (.476) and on-base percentage (.542).
Chavez earned her first conference award after being named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, which comes after the freshman led the Lobos at the plate hitting .556 with a .778 slugging percentage (tied for the team high), a team-high .600 on-base percentage, team-high five hits, team-high two doubles and finished with two RBI last week.

In UNM’s first five games, the Lobos reached base 18 times via either a hit-by-pitch or walk (nine BB, nine HBP). The Lobos drew three walks and five hit-by-pitches in the win at Nicholls and had one hit-by-pitch in the first game against Oregon State with four walks.
UNM has drawn at least one walk and one hit-by-pitch in five games, at least one hit-by-pitch in six games and at least one walk in seven games. UNM had a season-high five walks against Buffalo and a season-high five hit-by-pitches at Nicholls.
Eight different players have reached on a HBP and 10 have reached on a walk.
LOBOS IN THE OUTFIELD
So far, the Lobos have started the same outfielders all eight games in Keyannah Chavez in left, Peyton Robinson in center and Maddie Boldt playing right.
The trio have led the Lobos at the plate, with Chavez and Robinson tied for the team high in hits with 10, Chavez and Robinson 1-2, respectively, in batting average and on-base percentage and Boldt leading with 19 total bases, 11 RBI and an .864 slugging percentage.
