RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The New Mexico women’s golf team opened play Monday at the San Diego State Classic with the first two rounds of play at The Farms Golf Club. The Lobos shot 37-over during the first 36 holes of the event to sit in sixth place.

The Lobos shot 18-over during the morning’s first round, before shooting 19-over in the second round. Iowa State is the 36-hole leader at 16-over, followed by Georgia at 22-over, Denver at 26-over, Houston at 27-over, UNLV at 35-over and New Mexico.

“The course played tough, but we made too many mental errors today,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “We need to stay away from big numbers tomorrow, and if we can do that, we should be able to move up the leaderboard.”

Both Lauren Lehigh and Jenny Lertsadwattana finished the day inside the individual top 20, each at 7-over to be T-15th. Chloe Lauer had the low second round for the Lobos, shooting even par 72, to finish the day T-24th at 10-over. Myah McDonald is at 13-over and Lisa-Marie Pagliano is at 21-over through 36 holes.

The final round of the San Diego State Classic will be Tuesday at The Farms Golf Club. Live scoring will be available on GolfStat.
