Albuquerque, N.M. – The University of New Mexico swimming and diving team will be returning to the pool on Saturday for a dual meet against New Mexico State. The meet between bitter rivals is set to begin with diving events at 10am, with swimming events expected to start at 11:30am.

The Lobos (2-6, 0-4 MW) will look to snap a two-meet losing streak to the Aggies (5-3, 1-0 WAC) on Saturday. The Aggies won both matchups during the 2021-22 season (196-157 on Oct. 30, 2021 and 174-126 on Jan. 29, 2022). New Mexico’s last win in the series was a dominant 194-106 victory on Jan. 25, 2021.

New Mexico will look to rebound on Saturday from a four-meet losing skid after dropping their most recent dual 159-64 last Saturday to Nevada. The last wins for the Lobos in a dual meet came back on Oct. 31, 2022, when they convincingly beat both CSU Pueblo (216-50) and Western Colorado (191.5-105.5).

Saturday’s meet against New Mexico State will be the Lobos’ final dual meet of the 2022-23 season and also their final swimming tuneup before the Mountain West Conference Championship Meet over Feb. 15-18, 2023. New Mexico’s divers will compete in the Northern Arizona Diving Invitational over Feb. 2-5, 2023, prior to their respective appearance at the Mountain West Championships.
