COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico’s Jaelen House was named Mountain West Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. House was honored after helping the Lobos to a pair of victories last week, at home over Summit League leader Oral Roberts and at No. 23 San Diego State.

In the two victories, House averaged 22.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while recording five assists and seven steals. He shot a perfect 14-of-14 for the week from the free throw line, including key free throws in the final minute of both games to seal the wins.

On Monday, House had 15 points, five assists and three steals in the 82-75 win over Oral Roberts as UNM completed a perfect non-conference schedule. He also was the primary defender on star guard Max Abmas, who committed a season-high five turnovers. On Saturday, House had a season-high 29 points in the 76-67 victory at No. 23 San Diego State, snapping the Aztecs’ 16-game home win streak. He scored 21 of his 29 points in the second half, while also grabbing a season-high six rebounds and having four steals. House’s 29 points were the most by a SDSU opponent this season.

It is the first Mountain West Player of the Week recognition of House’s career and the second by a Lobo this season, joining Morris Udeze, who was honored on Nov. 28.

New Mexico will return home next week for a pair of Mountain West games at The Pit. The Lobos host San Jose State (12-6, 3-2 MW) on Tuesday night and Boise State (14-4, 4-1 MW) on Friday night. Tickets for those games are available at GoLobos.com/tickets, including a $30 off January three-pack that also includes the Jan. 27 game against Air Force.
