ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The No. 22 New Mexico men’s basketball team opens Mountain West schedule Wednesday night by hosting Colorado State. Game time at The Pit is 7:00 p.m. and the game will air on CBS Sports Network and the Lobo Radio Network.
With a large crowd expected and the new security features, including metal detectors, in place, fans are encouraged to arrive early to avoid delays entering the arena. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. as The Pit will open 90 minutes before tip-off for every men’s basketball game the remainder of the season.

The Lobos (12-0, 0-0 MW) are one of three remaining unbeaten teams nationally and entered the Associated Press rankings this week at No. 22, their first ranking since the end of the 2014 season. New Mexico is coming off a 94-63 victory over Prairie View A&M on Dec. 20 at The Pit as UNM opened a season 12-0 for the fifth time in program history. The Lobos have three of the five top scorers in the Mountain West in Morris Udeze (17.5 ppg), Jamal Mashburn, Jr. (16.8 ppg) and Jaelen House (16.4 ppg).
Colorado State enters the game with an 8-5 record and is coming off a 73-64 loss to USC on Dec. 21 in Phoenix. The Rams are led by preseason All-Mountain West guard Isaiah Stevens, who is averaging 18.3 points per game this year after missing the first seven games of the season due to injury.
The Lobos are 14-9 all-time in Mountain West openers, including a 9-0 record in MW openers at The Pit.
New Mexico will make its conference road debut on New Year’s Eve with a visit to Wyoming. Game time in Laramie is 2 p.m. and the game will air on FS1.
