Albuquerque, N.M. – The University of New Mexico swimming and diving team completed half of their double-dual meet against Colorado State and Air Force on Friday evening. The first eight swimming events and one diving event were carried out on the day with the Lobos having several strong performances.

The evening started with the 3-meter diving prelims in which 14 divers from the three teams combined competed. After the prelims, the top eight scorers were invited to return for the finals, which took place after the first break in swimming events. Sophomore Alex Robertson and junior Kristen Hepfer both dove in the finals for the Lobos, scoring 271.05 and 254.20 points, respectively. Freshmen Abigail Bouravnev and Melissa Venzon competed in the prelims for the event, along with senior Vivian Spates.

New Mexico had several strong swims on the day, led by a top finish by senior Ola Tomaszek in the 200-yard breaststroke. She went a 2:22.60 to give the Lobos their highest finish of the day in any event.

Sophomore Katy McCarter also had a high finish on the day, recording a 52.24 in the 100-yard freestyle event. Her time was good enough for less than a second and a half behind her personal-best time in the event.

The Lobos had another top finisher in the 100-yard butterfly, as junior Jordan Foster went a 56.75. Senior Marina Olmstead also swam well in the event, going a 57.48.

New Mexico will look to claw back into contention in both dual meets on Saturday. The remaining eight swimming events and one diving event will be completed starting at 11am.
