Albuquerque, N.M. – The University of New Mexico swimming and diving team is set to compete in a two-day double-dual swim meet this weekend at the Johnson Center in Albuquerque. The Lobos will be hosting Colorado State and Air Force in the meet, which begins on Friday. These will be New Mexico’s fifth and sixth home meets of the season and their second and third Mountain West Conference duals as well.
The Lobos (2-3, 0-1 MW) are coming off an encouraging appearance in the annual Phil Hansel Invitational swim meet in Houston two weekends ago, where they set numerous season and personal-best times. The team’s last dual meet was back on November 4th when they were defeated by Northern Arizona in Albuquerque.
The Rams (4-0, 1-0 MW) most recently swam against Mountain West Conference adversary Wyoming on November 5th, where they won 169-131. New Mexico fell to the Cowgirls back on October 13th and 14th by a score of 147-203.
The Falcons (2-0, 1-0 MW) also appeared in the Phil Hansel Invitational two weeks ago. They placed second in the meet, the Lobos placed sixth. The Falcons also beat Wyoming earlier this season, winning 161-139.
New Mexico’s dual meet against Colorado State will be the 33rd matchup between the schools, with the Lobos trailing the series 6-26.
This will be the 34th dual between New Mexico and Air Force, with the Lobos leading this series 17-15-1.
The meet will kick off at 3:00pm on Friday with both diving events leading up to the swimming events beginning at 4:00pm. Finals for the diving events will take place during breaks in the meet. The meet will resume on Saturday morning at 10:00am with the remaining events that are not completed on Friday.
