ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Six players from the New Mexico women’s soccer team earned academic all-district recognition for the 2022 season, announced by the College Sports Communicators on Wednesday.

The academic honor is reserved for student-athletes who maintain a high grade point average while also excelling in their role on the field with the team. “As proud as we are of our success on the field, what we do in the classroom is far more important,” said UNM head coach Heather Dyche. “This group represents the academic success of the whole team and we are really proud of them.”

Defender Myah Isais had the top GPA on the team among award winners, holding a 4.13 while working towards her business degree in marketing. Isais started all 19 matches for the Lobos and helped anchor a back line that finished the season with six consecutive shutouts.

Senior Jadyn Edwards also posted a GPA above 4.0, with a mark of 4.08 while completing her studies in biology. The star forward led the team and ranked second in the Mountain West Conference with eight goals, while adding four assists and starting all 19 matches for UNM.

Sophia Roberts, who was named to the Mountain West all-Newcomer team, also appeared on the academic list with a 3.98 GPA while studying biology. In her first season on the field with the Lobos, Roberts started all 19 matches while scoring a goal and adding an assist.

Another key part of UNM’s defensive unit this fall was Paige Satterlee, who played in all 19 matches and started 17 times. She earned academic all-district honors carrying a 3.97 GPA while studying business with a concentration in management.

Senior Mackenna Havenor finished her career by playing in all 19 matches and starting eight on the back line for UNM this fall. She garnered academic all-district honors with a 3.78 GPA while studying biology.

Also earning academic recognition was Brynn Boeyink, who is an education major with a 3.70 GPA. Boeyink played in 17 matches while starting 14, and contributed one assist on the season.

The Lobos earned a share of the 2022 Mountain West regular-season title, giving them three straight championships. The team finished the season with a record of 7-3-9 overall and went 5-1-5 in conference matches.
