ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico women’s soccer team opens a two-game road trip on Thursday with a visit to Boise State. The Lobos and Broncos will kick-off at 4:00 p.m. at the Boas Soccer Complex in a game that will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
The Lobos (6-3-6, 4-1-3 MW) is coming off an unbeaten four-game homestand, with wins over Fresno State, UNLV and Nevada, and a tie with San Jose State. New Mexico has moved up to second in the Mountain West standings, one point behind leader San Diego State. Leilani Baker had the game-winning goal in both wins last week to earn Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week honors.
The Broncos (7-3-7, 3-1-4 MW) are coming off a 1-0 loss at San Jose State on Sunday, a result that snapped a 12-game unbeaten streak. Boise State is tied for fourth in the conference standings, three points behind San Diego State and two points behind the Lobos. Hayden Wilsey has seven goals this season, second-most in the conference.
New Mexico leads the all-time series 8-4-2, while the Broncos lead 4-3-0 in Boise. The Lobos won both matchups last season, 1-0 in Albuquerque in the regular season and 2-1 in Boise in the Mountain West Tournament final. Those wins snapped a five-game unbeaten streak for the Broncos in the series from 2016-19.
The Lobos conclude their regular season road schedule on Sunday with a visit to Utah State before hosting San Diego State on Oct. 27 in the final regular season contest.
