New Mexico Hosts UNLV Thursday Night
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico women’s soccer team continues a four-game homestand on Thursday by hosting UNLV. The Lobos and Rebels will kick-off at 7:30 p.m. at the UNM Soccer Complex in a game that will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
Thursday’s game is New Mexico Soccer Student Giveaway Night. The first 50 UNM students in attendance will receive a T-shirt and one lucky student will win a pair of AirPods. Students can sign up through the Lobo Sports App.
The Lobos (4-3-6, 2-1-3 MW) opened the homestand with a 3-1 victory over Fresno State and a 1-1 draw against San Jose State last week. New Mexico is tied for fourth place in the Mountain West standings, four points out of first. Jadyn Edwards leads the conference with eight goals and 18 points this season.
The Rebels (3-8-3, 1-2-3 MW) are coming off draws against Colorado State and Wyoming where they scored the equalizer in the 90th minute and 88th minute, respectively. Mimi Mendoza leads UNLV in scoring with two goals and two assists.
New Mexico leads the all-time series 14-12-2, including a 9-4-0 record in Albuquerque. UNLV won last year’s matchup 2-1 in Las Vegas. UNM has won the last two meetings in Albuquerque, winning 3-2 in 2019 and 2-1 in 2017.
The four-game homestand concludes on Sunday when the Lobos host Nevada. Game time for that contest is 1 p.m.
