Andrea Howard Added as Volunteer Assistant Coach

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— She may have hung up her cleats as a collegiate player, but Andrea Howard’s time as a Lobo isn’t over.

UNM head softball coach Nicole Dickson has announced the addition of Howard as a volunteer assistant coach, with Howard assisting with the outfield and hitting.

“I didn’t get enough of Lobo Softball,” commented Howard. “I am grateful for this opportunity to continue sharing my love and knowledge of this sport to the next group of Lobo players. Go Lobos.”

Howard needs no introduction to Lobo fans, having recently played for the program the past five seasons. An Albuquerque native, Howard graduated as the program’s all-time leader in home runs and total bases, second in career slugging percentage, runs-batted-in and walks and fourth in on-base percentage.

Through her 222 games as a Lobo, starting in 221, Howard recorded 47 home runs, 380 total bases, 147 RBI, 123 walks and carried a slugging percentage of .637 and an on-base percentage of .427.

She was a three-time All-Mountain West honoree, became the only two-time first team Academic All-American in program history and is a three-time CoSIDA All-American, and is currently in consideration for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award as the sole representative of the Mountain West.
