ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team opens its 2022-23 season Friday through Sunday at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Ariz. The tournament, hosted by Georgia State, will be held at Mirabel Golf Club and will feature one round each day on the par-70, 7,118-yard course.

The Lobos will feature a lineup of Carson Herron, Matthew Watkins, Bastien Amat, Albert Boneta and Virgilio Paz. Brandon Shong will compete as an individual.

A deep field awaits the Lobos in Scottsdale, as the 18-team field includes 10 teams ranked in the Golfweek preseason top 30. New Mexico and host Georgia State will be joined by No. 4 Georgia Tech, No. 5 Arizona State, No. 11 Tennessee, No. 14 Auburn, No. 16 Florida State, No. 20 Wake Forest, No. 25 East Tennessee State, No. 27 Oregon, No. 29 Arizona and No. 30 Washington, along with Clemson, Louisville, NC State, San Diego State, UCLA and UNLV.

New Mexico is opening the season at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate for the second straight year. The Lobos finished 10th in last year’s event.
