Lobo Soccer Adds Two Student Managers

by Alma Solis

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico soccer team has announced the addition of two student managers to the staff, introducing Hussein Soueidan and Tyler Aldridge.

In his position as one of three student managers, Soueidan will be working on the technical side. He started attending the University of New Mexico last fall after graduating from Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, Texas, in June of 2021. He has vast experience in soccer through the last three years. He began coaching in the US Youth Soccer Association in April of 2020 and shortly after that, he started refereeing for USSF in August. He also has experience photographing soccer as he was the photographer for his high school soccer team.

“I made a decision to become part of the Lobo Soccer staff because it is an honor and pleasure to be part of this program,” Soueidan said. “The best part about working with the UNM Women’s Soccer Program is its entailment of unique, kind, and wonderful people like Heather, Paul, Karley, Pascale, and Beth. I am beyond privileged and grateful to have the opportunity of working with this team. I am excited to see what this team has in store for us!”

Aldridge will be working with equipment in this position. After graduating from Crystal Lake South High School in Crystal Lake, Ill., he is starting at New Mexico this fall. He was a two-year starter as a left fullback player on his varsity team in high school, even being named the varsity team captain as a senior. Along with his duties with the Lobo soccer team, he intends to major in Business Administration at UNM.

“I am excited to join this program because I have played soccer for most of my life,” Aldridge stated. “After graduating high school, I wanted to stay connected to the soccer world and UNM is the place to do that.”

Soueidan and Aldridge are the two most recent additions to the staff, after adding volunteer coach Bethany Lebel and student manager Nathaniel Wurster a couple months ago.

“We are thrilled to have both Hussein and Tyler join our staff,” coach Heather Dyche stated. “After a long interview process with student manager candidates, these two were the obvious choice.”

The Lobos kick off their 2022 season as they host the Lobo Invitational, first facing Rutgers on August 18th at 7:30 p.m. (MT).
