TEMPE, Ariz. — While there are folks who lament the fact that everyone these days gets a trophy, what if in fact everyone got a trophy because everyone earned it?  Then it’s just awesome.

It’s also what the UNM women’s tennis team did, as all eight players on the roster, Yue Lin “Polly” Chen, Hsiang-Wen “Albie” Huang, Hsuan Huang, My Kageyama, Satoho Toriumi, Sarah O’Connor, Maria Sodre and Sofia Taborga are were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2021-22 academic year.

To earn that recognition, a student-athlete needed a 3.5 GPA for the year.  Additionally, and not even remotely surprising, the Lobo women’s tennis team was named an ITA All-Academic squad, meaning the team had a cumulative 3.2 GPA for the year.
