Baker-Livingston Earns Second MW Freshman of the Week award
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Right-handed pitcher Benjamin Baker-Livingston of the University of New Mexico baseball team was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Week for the second time his career, announced the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Usually in the relief spot, Baker-Livingston earned his first career start on May 10 against in-state rival New Mexico State. In his start, he pitched 4.0 innings and struck out five batters, allowing just one run on four hits to lead him to his first career win.
The Richardson, Texas, native earned the award for the first time in his career just a few weeks ago on April 25, after great outings against then-No. 9 Texas Tech and UNLV.
The Lobos close out the regular season with four straight home games. New Mexico will host in-state rival New Mexico State for the fourth and final Rio Grande Rivalry matchup of the season on May 17 at 3 p.m. (MT), the game being moved up three hours from its original time of 6 p.m. to accommodate the Aggies’ travel. The squad will host Air Force for the regular season three-game series finale on May 19-21.
