Lobos Set for MW Outdoor Championships

CLOVIS, Calif. – The University of New Mexico track & field team is set to compete in the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships.

The conference championships began on May 11 with the multis, but the Lobos did not have anyone competing in those events. The Lobos will open up the championships with a couple distance events on the night of Thursday, May 12. The trio of Emma Heckel, Samree Dishon and Gracelyn Larkin will compete in the women’s 10K run at 9:30 p.m. (PT), while Kevin Mulcaire runs in the men’s event shortly after at 10:10 p.m.

On Friday, Marthe Roee and Mikyla Harkley start the field events off in the triple jump at 3 p.m., while the trio of Dishon, Stefanie Parsons, Sarah Eckel and Elise Thorner open track events at 5 p.m.

Saturday’s events will be filled with lots of final rounds from Friday’s preliminary rounds. Camillo Dunninger will also open field events on Saturday in the men’s discus event at 3 p.m.

From here, the top-48 nationally in each event will advance to the NCAA West Preliminary on May 26-28 at John McDonnel Field in Fayetteville, Ark., home to the Arkansas Razorbacks.
