Lobos 10th After Round One of Mountain West Championship

BREMERTON, Wash. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team opened play Friday at the Mountain West Championship with the first round at the Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club. The reigning conference champion Lobos shot 12-over during the opening round to finish the day in 10th place.

Colorado State is the first-round leader at 8-under. Boise State is second at 6-under and San Diego State is third at 5-under. Nevada is fourth at even par.

Sam Choi led the Lobos on Friday, shooting a 1-over 73. Bastien Amat shot 74, Brandon Shong shot 76, Carson Herron shot 77 and Matthew Watkins shot 79 to round out the UNM lineup.

The Mountain West Championship continues Saturday and concludes Sunday at Gold Mountain Golf Club.
