AWENDAW, S.C. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team concluded play at the Hootie at Bulls Bay on Tuesday with the final round at the Bulls Bay Golf Club. The Lobos shot 2-over during the third round to finish the event tied for ninth place at 6-under.
Host South Carolina and East Tennessee State were co-champions as their playoff had to be halted due to darkness. It began as a four-team playoff, also including NC State and Missouri, after all four finished the tournament at 20-under.
“It was a good final round today from our guys,” said head coach Glen Millican. “We had really tough conditions today with the wind out of the north. The 70s from Matthew and Bastien were really good rounds today. It was nice to move up into a decent finish after struggling on Sunday in the first round.”
Bastien Amat and Matthew Watkins led UNM on Tuesday, each shooting a 2-under 70 in the final round. Sam Choi shot a final round 74 to finish the event T-5th at 7-under, his sixth top-5 finish of the season. Brandon Shong and Carson Herron each shot 76 to round out the Lobo lineup. Connor Adams shot 74 on Tuesday while playing as an individual.
The Lobos return to action April 9-10 at the Aggie Invitational in College Station, Texas.
