COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Rivaldo Leacock of the University of New Mexico track & field team was named the Mountain West Men’s Track Athlete of the Week, announced the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
In his first outdoor 400m hurdles event as a Lobo, Leacock ran his best race by far this season with a time of 50.79 seconds, making his time in the 400m hurdles the fastest by a runner from Barbados this season and topping the second best by one whole second. The St. George, Barbados, native earned himself the No. 11 spot on the NCAA Division I qualifying list early in the season.
The Lobos will have split squads at two meets next week as some will head to the Stanford Invitational on April 1-2 in Stanford, Calif., while others will head to the Texas Tech Masked Rider in Lubbock, Texas, on the same dates.
