TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of New Mexico track & field team opened up the outdoor season at the ASU Invitational on Friday as seven Lobos competed in the 200m dash today.

Tianna Holmes led the women’s squad as she ran a time of 23.73 seconds for third place. Her time puts her at an early tie for 31st place on the national qualifying list. Freshmen Lauren Fowler and Mikyla Harkley ran their first indoor event and Ryan Little ran her first outdoor 200m dash.

In the men’s 200m dash, Jevon O’Bryant led the three Lobo runners. He ran a time of 21.20 seconds, beating his previous best of 21.50 which he ran while he was at Barton County Community College. His time earned him sixth place at the meet and the no. 59 spot on the early national qualifying list. This also marks O’Bryant’s first outdoor event as a Lobo.

Jovahn Williamson (21.60s) and Rivaldo Leacock (22.04s) also ran their first outdoor event in the New Mexico uniform.

The Lobos continue the meet on Saturday. Holmes and Little will run in the women’s 400m dash at 4:05 p.m. (PT), while O’Bryant and Williamson in the men’s 400m dash will follow at 4:15 p.m. Along with running the 400m dash, Leacock will compete in the 400m hurdles as well, set for 5:45 p.m. Fowler is set to compete in the women’s 100m dash at 4:30 p.m. and long jump at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, while Harkley will compete in the triple jump during the 10:30 a.m. time slot as well.

Aidan Quinn is set to compete in his main event, the triple jump at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
