MESA, Ariz. – The New Mexico women’s golf team concluded play Sunday with the final round at the Clover Cup, hosted by Notre Dame at Longbow Golf Club. The Lobos shot 1-over during the third round to finish tied for seventh-place at 7-over in an event that featured an elite field of nine top-50 teams.

No. 41 Clemson won the title at 18-under, edging No. 19 Texas A&M at 13-under. No. 17 LSU was third at 8-under, while No. 30 Kentucky and No 31 TCU tied for fourth at even par. No. 28 Georgia was sixth at 2-over, followed by No. 40 North Carolina and the Lobos at 7-over.

Myah McDonald was the top individual finisher for the Lobos, earning a top-10 finish placing T-6th at 5-under after a final round 70. Lauren Lehigh had the low round of the day for UNM with a 3-under 69 on Sunday, finishing at 3-over overall.  Jenny Lertsadwattana shot 74, while Caroline Jansson and Chloe Lauer each shot 76 on Sunday to round out the Lobo lineup.

“The team showed extraordinary toughness this week,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “Today was our lowest round. We knew under par was key and we were close. Myah finished well and had some nice head-to-head wins against top players. Lauren showed a winning attitude and her score was key for us. I’m very happy with this group!”

The Lobos return to Arizona later this month for the PING/ASU Invitational, held March 25-27 in Phoenix.
