MESA, Ariz. – The New Mexico women’s golf team continued play Saturday with the second round of the Clover Cup, hosted by Notre Dame at Longbow Golf Club. The Lobos shot 3-over for the second straight round to remain in a sixth place tie at 6-over amongst an elite field that features nine top-50 teams.

No. 17 LSU is the 36-hole leader at 8-under, just ahead of No. 41 Clemson at 6-under and No. 31 TCU at 5-under. No. 19 Texas A&M is fourth at 1-over, No. 30 Kentucky is fifth at 2-over and the Lobos are ted with No. 40 North Carolina at 6-over.

Myah McDonald and Lauren Lehigh led the Lobos on Saturday, each shooting even par 72. McDonald remains 3-under overall and is T-8th on the individual leaderboard. Caroline Jansson shot a 1-over 73 and is at 1-over for the tournament. Chloe Lauer is 2-over for the tournament after a second-round 74, while Jenny Lertsadwattana shot 78 on Saturday to round out the UNM lineup.

“The wind was swirling and blowing pretty hard on our first nine,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “The team adjusted and made some clutch birdies on the back nine. They brought it back really well after being 9-over for the day at one point. We definitely played the par-5s better today as well.”

The tournament concludes Sunday at Longbow Golf Club.
