LAS VEGAS, Nev. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team completed play Tuesday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate with the final round at Southern Highlands Country Club. The Lobos shot 6-under during the third round to finish in seventh place at 15-under among an elite field that included seven top-25 teams.

Top-ranked Oklahoma was the wire-to-wire winner, finishing at 38-under, seven shots ahead of fifth-ranked Pepperdine at 31-under. No. 15 Texas was third at 29-under, followed by No. 24 Florida (20-under), No. 12 Georgia Tech (19-under), No. 9 Georgia (16-under) and the No. 29 Lobos (15-under).

“Overall, it was another good week for us,” said head coach Glen Millican. “We had some really good play at times, and we also had some times when the team did a good job of hanging tough during some difficult stretches. It has been a good start to the spring and we are looking forward to getting back at it in a couple of weeks.”

Carson Herron was the Lobos’ top finisher at 7-under after a final round 69. Sam Choi had the low round of the day for UNM, posting a 4-under 68 to finish the tournament at even par. Brandon Shong shot even par in the third round to finish at 5-under. Bastien Amat shot 73 and Matthew Watkins shot 76 on Tuesday to round out the lineup.

The Lobos will return to action Mar. 18-19 in Tucson at the National Invitational, hosted by Arizona.
