Lobos Close Out MW Schedule at San José State Friday

SAN JOSE, Calif. — There’s one game left on the MW schedule for the Lobo women’s basketball team, against San José State on Friday at 7 p.m. MT, and the Lobos are looking to generate some momentum heading into the MW Tournament.

UNM lost a heartbreaker to Fresno State on Wednesday in which the Lobos couldn’t get the go-ahead basket late in the game despite several chances that bounced off the rim and several defensive stops against the Bulldogs.

Four Lobos finished in double figures, led by Antonia Anderson’s 20 points, with Anderson also leading with a game-high four blocks and tied for the team high in rebounds with eight. Shaiquel McGruder and LaTascya Duff each finished with 14 points and LaTora Duff had 10 points with a game-high seven assists. LaTascya also finished with a game-high three steals.

Following Wednesday’s game, the Lobos are averaging 78.4 points per game and are making 9.8 three-pointers per game in conference games, leading the MW in both categories.

The Lobos continue to have a conference-best five players scoring in double figures in MW games, led by McGruder (14.8), Jaedyn De La Cerda (14.6), Anderson (13.7), LaTascya (11.4) and LaTora (10.9).

San José State is scoring 60.3 points per game with two players in double figures. Ella Ogier leads with 13.4 points per game and Cydni Lewis at 12.3 points per game. Ogier leads with 27 steals and 37 assists, Lewis leads with 7.4 rebounds per game and Meghan Oberg leads with 25 blocks.

The Spartans are 1-7 at home in conference play, while the Lobos are now 5-3 on the road in conference play.
