FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. & WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The University of New Mexico track & field team is sending a handful of Lobos to compete in the Arkansas Qualifier on Friday and three Lobos to the JML DMR Invitational on Saturday this week.

Competing in Fayetteville, Ark., at the Arkansas Qualifier are Victor Akhalu in the 60m dash (3:30 p.m. CT), Jevon O’Bryant in the 400m dash (5:05 p.m.), Abdirizak Ibrahim and Matthew Larkin in the mile run (4:07 p.m.), and Aidan Quinn in triple jump (5:45 p.m.). O’Bryant is currently No. 21 on the qualifying list in his event, just shy of the 16 automatic qualifiers in each event for the NCAA Championships. Ibrahim is No. 23 in this season’s qualifying list in the mile. Quinn is ranked 34th in the triple jump.

Three Lobos are running in the women’s mile run at the JML DMR Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday. Set to compete are Adva Cohen, Abbe Goldstein and Elise Thorner. The event is set for 2:55 p.m. (ET). Goldstein is currently ranked 20th in the event’s qualifying list, while Thorner is No. 32 in the event.

The Lobos are set to compete in the Mountain West Conference Championships next weekend (Feb. 24-26) at their home track at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M.
