Lively Named Preseason All-MW Team; Lobos Picked Sixth in Preseason Poll
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West officially announced the preseason all-conference team as well as the predicted order of finish on Thursday afternoon, highlighted by Tristin Lively being named to the Preseason All-Conference Team. The Lobos were picked to finish sixth in the conference with 11 points.
Lively earns a spot on the Preseason-All Mountain West Team after an outstanding 2021 season in which he notched a 2-2 record and a 4.59 ERA in seven starts, recording 36 strikeouts in 33.1 innings pitched.
A new era of Lobo baseball begins as Tod Brown takes the reins of the program, following the retirement of 14-year UNM coach Ray Birmingham. Brown brings a vast knowledge of the game, having been North Dakota State’s head coach for the past 14 years. Along with a mostly new coaching staff, the Lobos welcome back 22 returners and bring in 18 newcomers on the roster.
The Lobos open up their 2022 schedule in the Sanderson Ford Classic in Surprise, Ariz., on Feb. 18-20. UNM will face Oregon State at noon (MT) and Gonzaga at 5 p.m. on Opening Day on Feb. 18.
