Holmes and Dunninger Highlight Final Day of NM Collegiate Classic for Lobo Track & Field

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On the second and final day of the New Mexico Collegiate Classic, four Lobos found their way onto the top-50 performances list in the NCAA and two Lobos set new school records.

The heptathlon concluded the final three events in today’s schedule as Camillo Dunninger set a new school record with 5684 points and found his way to 11th place on the NCAA Division I Qualifying List this season. Dunninger placed first in four out of the seven events, while also setting five new personal records in the 1000m run (2:46.97), 60m dash (7.13s), high jump (2.02m), 60m hurdles (8.50s) and pole vault (5m). The previous school record was set in 2013 when Richard York tallied 5590 points in the event.

In the women’s 400m dash, Tianna Holmes also set a new school record with a time of 53.28 (altitude-adjusted to 53.39). The previous record was set by Ariel Burr in 2007 when she ran a time of 53.84. Holmes’ time also puts her at 25th on the qualifying list this season. She now owns the school record in both the indoor and outdoor 200m dash and 400m dash events.

With a time of 46.43 (altitude-adjusted to 46.54) in the 400m dash, Jevon O’Bryant found his way to 14th on this season’s qualifying list. His time was also just .21 seconds shy of breaking the school record in the event. He has the best time in both the 200m dash and 400m dash in the Mountain West.

Matthew Larkin ran a time of 1:49.79 (altitude-adjusted to 1:49.18) in the 800m run invitational. His time in the event set him at 27th in the NCAA Division I list, just .09 seconds from the top 25.

The Lobos are set to host their final indoor meet, before the Mountain West Championships, on Feb. 11-12 on their home track at the Albuquerque Convention Center. They host the biggest meet of the season, Don Kirby Elite Invitational, as top-ranked schools travel to the meet. Events are currently scheduled to start at 3 p.m. (MT) on Friday and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
