ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s golf team begins its spring schedule this week as it travels to the Arizona Intercollegiate. The tournament will run Jan. 24-25 at the 7,022-yard, par-72 Tucson Country Cub.

The tournament will consist of two rounds on Monday and one round on Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com.

This year’s tournament features 14 schools, including five ranked in the GolfStat Top 50. The Lobos, ranked No. 37 nationally in the latest GolfStat rankings, are joined by No. 34 and host Arizona, No. 5 Arkansas, No. 30 San Francisco and No. 39 Duke as the top-ranked teams in the field. Augusta, BYU, Cal, Iowa State, Loyola Marymount, New Mexico State, Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s and UTEP round out the field.

New Mexico’s lineup for the event is Sam Choi, Brandon Shong, Bastien Amat, Matthew Watkins and Carson Herron. Ignacio Arcaya is playing as an individual. The Lobos played four events during the fall season, highlighted by a victory at the Wolf Pack Classic in Nevada and a runner-up finish in their home event, the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at the UNM Championship Course.

New Mexico finished third at last year’s Arizona Intercollegiate, which was its first event of the season since the collegiate golf season only had a spring schedule.
