ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The New Mexico men’s basketball team concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday as it hosts Norfolk State. Tipoff at The Pit is 7 pm. and the game will be available to watch online on the Mountain West Network and broadcast on the Lobo Radio Network.
Tuesday’s game is our annual toy drive. Fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy to the game will receive a Lobo ornament (while supplies last). Santa will also be handing out holiday candy prior to the game. The game also features a family section offer where fans can get a free youth ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket to sit in the student section (UNM students are on break).
The Lobos (6-6) are coming off a 90-72 loss to SMU on Sunday. Jamal Mashburn, Jr. scored 25 points to lead UNM, his fourth 25-point game of the season. He becomes just the fifth Lobo in the past 40 years to have at least four 25-point games in the non-conference portion of a season. Jaelen House had 16 points and matched a career high with seven assists.
The Spartans (9-3) are the reigning MEAC Champions. Norfolk State’s game on Sunday at Loyola Chicago was cancelled and the Spartans haven’t played since a 71-58 loss at Wichita State on Dec. 11.
Tuesday’s game is the first meeting between the schools. Norfolk State is the first MEAC school to visit The Pit since North Carolina A&T in 2006-07.
The Lobos conclude their homestand on Dec. 28 when they host No. 21 Colorado State in the Mountain West opener. Game time is 9 p.m. and the game will air on FS1. Tickets for all UNM home games at The Pit are available online at GoLobos.com/tickets.
