Edwards Named First Team Academic All-America
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – After a standout 2021 season on the field, senior forward Jadyn Edwards has been recognized for her performance in the classroom as well. Edwards earned First Team CoSIDA Academic All-America, announced the organization this morning.
She is the first Lobo to be named Academic All-America since Gwen Maly earned Third Team at the conclusion of the 2019 season. Edwards is also the only Lobo in program history to earn a spot on the First Team. With the 4.0 GPA she earned in her biology major, she has earned that right to be the first Lobo on the First Team.
Edwards has earned a multitude of awards this season, based on both her performance on the field and her studies. She was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year, as well as being named All-Conference First Team. Edwards then earned All-Tournament honors after helping the Lobos win the championship. She was named to the Academic All-District First Team, leading to her nomination for All-America. Edwards also was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Pacific Region Team for the second time in her career.
On the pitch, Edwards was the Lobos’ leading scorer and led the conference with 11 goals and 88 shots. She had the second-most game winning goals with three on the season, including the game winner in overtime against Utah State for the title of Mountain West Conference Tournament Champions, the program’s first tournament title since the 2011 season.
