by Steve Kirkland

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team concludes a three-game homestand at The Pit on Monday when it hosts Western New Mexico. Game time is 7 p.m. and fans can watch online on the Mountain West Network and listen on the Lobo Radio Network. Tickets for the game are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets.

Monday’s game is Lobos Give Back Night. As Thanksgiving approaches, we are asking our fans to give back to the community and assist those less fortunate. We’ll be accepting donations to the Lobo Food Bank. Fans can bring non-perishable food items to Lobo One outside the Northeast Entrance to receive a discounted ticket to the game. There will also be donation bins at all entrances for any fans who would like to donate when they arrive.

The game is also Social Media Night where fans can interact on social media throughout the game to win prizes. Follow UNM Lobos and Men’s Basketball social media accounts and watch the videoboard to see how you can participate.

The Lobos (3-1) are looking to remain unbeaten at home this season following a hard-fought 81-78 victory over Montana State on Saturday afternoon. Jamal Mashburn, Jr. scored a career-high 21 points to lead UNM while Gethro Muscadin added career-highs of 18 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double.

The Mustangs (4-0) are undefeated this season after a pair of home victories last week against Southwest Assemblies of God University American Indian College. Western New Mexico played two exhibitions earlier this season against Division I opponents, falling 85-59 at Grand Canyon and 85-57 at UTEP.

New Mexico leads the series 18-3 in regular season games, having won the last seven matchups since WNMU’s last victory in 1958-59. The teams last met in the regular season in 2004-05, a 93-53 UNM victory at The Pit. The teams most recent meeting was a 113-57 Lobo victory in a preseason exhibition prior to the 2016-17 season.

After Monday’s game, the Lobos will travel to the Las Vegas Invitational. New Mexico plays UAB in the semifinals on Thanksgiving at the Orleans Arena. Game time is 5 p.m. MT and the game will air on FS1. UNM will play either San Francisco or Towson in the championship or consolation game on Friday.
