PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. –– The New Mexico men’s golf team continued play Tuesday at the Saint Mary’s Invitational, held at Poppy Hills Golf Club. The Lobos shot 10-over during the second round to finish the day tied for 13th place at 10-over.
Stanford continues to lead the tournament with a 36-hole score of 19-under. Oregon is in second at 12-under, while San Francisco and Nevada are tied for third at 3-under.
“It was not a good day for us, but we are still in position to make up some ground tomorrow,” said head coach Glen Millican. “There is plenty of golf left and a good final round will go a long way.”
Albert Boneta and Matthew Watkins each shot a 2-over 73 on Tuesday to lead the Lobos during the second round, one shot better than Sam Choi, Bastien Amat and Brandon Shong, who all shot a 3-over 74. Choi is the highest Lobo on the individual leaderboard at 1-under, while Watkins is at even par.
The tournament continues concludes Wednesday at Poppy Hills.
