Lobos Add Arizona, Maine to Future Schedules
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico has added a pair of games to the upcoming 2022 and 2024 schedules, as UNM will host Maine, an FCS program, in 2022 and travel to Arizona in 2024.
The meeting with Maine will be the first between the Lobos and the Black Bears. That contest will take place on September 3, 2022 and it will serve as the season opener for UNM. It also completes the 2022 non-conference schedule as UNM also hosts UTEP on September 17, and travels to LSU on September 24 and to New Mexico State. No date is set for the NMSU game, but the only dates open for the Aggies in 2022 are October 8, October 15 and November 5.
Arizona will return a long-standing rivalry between UNM and Arizona, a contest that was last played in the 2015 New Mexico Bowl, a close 45-37 win for the Wildcats. The Lobos have four non-conference games scheduled for 2024 with the Lobos opening up hosting Montana State on August 24. UNM will then travel to Arizona on August 31. UNM also has road games in 2024 lined up with Auburn on September 14 and with New Mexico State at a date to be determined.
