Terry Wilson Named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — It took UNM 13 years and 156 games, from September 10, 2007 to December 14, 2020 between getting a quarterback named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week. Now, for the second time in three games, a Lobo quarterback took home the honors. Terry Wilson, who threw for a career-high 381 yards on 26-of-37 passing with three touchdowns was honored by league officials as the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week.
Joining him with weekly honors was Justin Rice of Utah State for MW Defensive Player of the Week, Kaegun Williams of San Diego State for Special Teams Player of the Week and Seyi Oladipo of Boise State as Freshman of the Week.
The Lobo quarterback led UNM to a 2-0 start for the first time in 16 years as he threw a pair of first half touchdowns, from 15 and 17 yards out. He also set up the opening score of the game with a 51-yard bomb to open the game. Wilson over his first two games is 48-for-65 for 559 yards and 6 touchdowns with no interceptions. He has a quarterback rating of 176.5 and his 58-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter sealed UNM’s second win of the season.
Additionally, Wilson was named one of eight Manning Stars of the Week, joining Christian Anderson of Army, Brennan Armstrong of Virginia, Anthony Brown of Oregon, Max Duggan of TCU, Seth Henigan of Memphis, Tanner McKee of Stanford, and N’Kosio Perry of FAU
