ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — July 1, 2021 represents a new day in the realm of college athletics, as for the first time, University of New Mexico student-athletes can now benefit monetarily from their own name, image and likeness.

The latest information in NIL from the NCAA can be found at this link, and the latest news from the NCAA is the adoption of an interim name, image and likeness policy.

UNM Athletics released the following statement regarding NIL:

“Today represents a new day in collegiate athletics as student-athletes across the country will be able to profit from their name, image and likeness. We fully support our student-athletes in this new era of college athletics. We believe that UNM student-athletes are terrific ambassadors for our university, city, region and state, succeeding on the field, in the classroom and in the community. As an athletic department, we commit to providing them tools and resources to educate, prepare, protect and optimize their ability with the new avenue of name, image and likeness.”
