Successful Season Comes to an End for Jamari Drake at U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. — The University of New Mexico track and field team’s Jamari Drake competed in the U.S. Olympic Trials, finishing in 10th place in the final round of high jump. In the qualifying round, Jamari set another school record after clearing the 1.87m (6-2.5) mark, breaking her own record that she set earlier this season.

In the qualifying round on Friday, Drake cleared the 1.77m and 1.82m on her first attempt at each, respectively. She then cleared the 1.87m mark on her third attempt, set a new school record, and advanced to the final round of the high jump.

In the high jump finals, Drake again cleared the 1.82m mark on her first attempt but fell just short of clearing the 1.87m (6-2.5). Nonetheless, Drake finished in the top ten, concluding an incredible season by the senior.
