RALEIGH, N.C. — In an unprecedented season, The University of New Mexico women’s soccer team has been phenomenal, punching their ticket to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Mountain West Regular Season Title in a 3-2 overtime win over San Diego State. As the MW’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, the Lobos (10-1-0) will face the Navy Midshipmen (4-4-2) on Tuesday at 6 p.m. (4 p.m. MT) at the Gillette Soccer Complex in Wilson, North Carolina.

This will be the first time in program history that the two teams face off and the Lobos’ first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2011. The Lobos are 0-2 in the tournament through two appearances (2010, 2011). The Midshipmen are 0-4-1 in NCAA Tournament history and have advanced once to the second round of the tournament in 2006.

The winner of this match will move on to the second round and meet up with the fourth-seeded TCU Horned Frogs on Friday at 6 p.m. (4 p.m. MT).

After facing much adversity through the duration of this season, the Lobos are looking to secure the program’s first NCAA Tournament win. This season, the Lobos have outscored opponents 28-4, only dropping one match through eleven total.
