Lobos Drop Fourth Straight, 4-1 to UNLV
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Myu Kageyama picked up a singles win, but it just wasn’t meant to be as UNLV took down the Lobos 4-1, handing UNM a fourth straight conference loss. UNM dropped to 7-6 overall and 1-4 in the Mountain West.
Kageyama defeated Connie Li at No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-2, a win that cut UNLV’s lead down to 2-1 after the Rebels swept doubles and took a win at No. 6 singles. It looked like UNM would stay in it as Hsuan Huang won her opening set and was down just 5-4 in the second, but the Rebels picked up wins at No. 5 and No. 2 singles to clinch the 4-1 win.
The Lobos are back on the road next week to take on the Air Force Falcons on Saturday and then San Jose State in Colorado Springs on Sunday.
