Women's Golf Finishes Two Rounds at Arizona Wildcat Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of New Mexico women’s golf team finished the first two rounds of the Arizona Wildcat Invitational in ninth place overall (+20). The Lobos are three strokes out of eighth and eight strokes out of a tie for fifth.

“We missed an opportunity to go low the first round with the good weather conditions,” head coach Jill Trujillo said. “The afternoon round was windy and played much different and definitely more difficult. We’ll get our missed shots in better places tomorrow.”

The Lobos were led by sophomore Napat “Jenny” Lertsadwattana who shot a one-over 73 and a 75 in the first two rounds to total 148 on the day (+4), tying for 28th.

Second on the leaderboard for UNM through two rounds is freshman Myah McDonald. McDonald shot a career-low 72 in round one followed by a 78 in round two for a score of 150 (+6).

McDonald tied with redshirt-senior Caroline Jansson who shot a 77 in round one before shaving off four strokes in round two.

Sophomore Lauren Lehigh tied for 54th, carding a team-best, one-under 71 in round one. She posted an 82 in the rough conditions of round two to finish day one +9.

Junior Kamie Hamada rounded out the Lobo squad with a 11 (155) after shooting scores of 78 and 77.

As a team, the Lobos shot a 596 (+20). Texas leads through the first two rounds with a combined score of 562 (-14), followed by No. 3 USC (570, -6) and No. 7 Oklahoma State (573, -3).

New Mexico will resume action on Tuesday at 8 a.m. MT in a shotgun start. Fans will be able to follow live via live stats.
