Lobos To Host Idaho State in Football in 2025

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico has signed a contract to host Idaho State of the Big Sky Conference in what will amount to a season-opener on September 6, 2025.  The two programs were slated to play to open the Danny Gonzales era on August 29, 2020 but the game was not played due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting will be the fourth all-time between the two teams, with UNM leading 3-0.  The last meeting was on September 5, 1998, a 38-9 Lobo win in Rocky Long’s first game as head coach.

The game is the second officially scheduled for 2025 as UNM will play at UCLA on September 13.  Although no date has been scheduled as of yet, New Mexico will host in-state rival New Mexico State in 2025, as UNM hosts in odd-numbered years.
