DAY ONE TEE TIMES

The Lobos return a heavily loaded and talented squad that includes seven players from the 2019-20 roster that posted five top-five finishes on the season including a win at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate, before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In an exciting turn of events, junior Sam Choi will be returning in that group of seven. Choi intended to play professionally this season but due to COVID-19, decided to return to compete another season for the Lobos.

Choi led the Lobos with a 71.17 stroke average last season and was a two-time Mountain West Golfer of the Week. He registered three top-five finishes including an overall win while posting a career-low round of 66 three times as a sophomore. He led the Lobos in five of their eight competitions and was also named to the 2020 MW Academic All-Conference Team and was lauded a 2019-20 MW Scholar-Athlete.

The Lobos also return 2019 MW Individual Champion, senior Galven Green, who averaged 72.86 strokes per round last season. Green registered a season-low round score of 66 once and posted his best finish of the season at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate in Albuquerque. He tied for second as he helped the Lobos claim the overall victory over BYU after a playoff.

The pair is joined by redshirt-senior Ross Sinclair, redshirt-junior Slater Sivage, junior Ignacio Arcaya, junior Jack Anderson and sophomore Albert Boneta.

Sinclair registered the lowest Lobo round last season (65), averaged 73.43 strokes per round and racked up three top-20 performances while earning 2020 MW Academic All-Conference and 2019-20 MW Scholar-Athlete accolades.

Arcaya averaged 73.43 strokes per round as sophomore, carded a 66 once and collected a pair of top-15 finishes on the season to go along with a trio of top-25s.

UNM adds three newcomers to the 2020-21 roster including junior transfer Brandon Shong (Ranger College) and freshmen Bastien Amat (France) and Matthew Watkins (Texas).

The Lobos have eight competitions scheduled throughout the spring staring with the Arizona Intercollegiate and ending with the Mountain West Tournament scheduled for May 1-2. Due to the State of New Mexico COVID-19 regulations, the Lobos are not slated to not host a competition in Albuquerque this season.
