The Lobos started hot from three-point range, hitting three, three-pointers to allow UNM to create separation early with a 9-2 lead. UNM hit 14 three-pointers in the game, making a season-high 46.7 perfect from distance. It is the third game this season that the Lobos have made 10-plus threes.
Nevada tried to cut into the 52-25 halftime deficit in the third quarter with a 20-9 run that brought the game within 16 points, but the Lobos withstood the wave of momentum for the eventual 88-69 win.
